The Uninvited

It’s great to have a twist at the end, but it’s even more important to have an interesting story leading up to the end.

Premise, Structure / Plot

This would have been an excellent thriller had the bulk of the story simply had another suspect. By starting with the girl’s suspicion of her father’s new wife and carrying that through till minutes before the end, the movie failed to sustain my interest. Building on one track is still a one-track story. Had I watched this at any other time aside from days before Halloween, I would have stopped after forty minutes or so. In other words, The Sixth Sense would have been a good movie even without the the Bruce-Willis-is-dead twist.

Here, tt would have been obvious to add the father as a suspect. The thinking would have been that he killed his wife partly out of mercy and partly so he can officially be with his new girlfriend.
