The Punisher

Yet another- it was okay, but could’ve been great.

• Structure/plot

It was a one-man army set-up and, instead of Tom Jane blowing away everyone, he created these elaborate schemes for the bad guys to kill themselves. Now these under-the-radar tactics were cool in their own right, but not appropriate for the character and mood the movie presented. That approach would’ve been fine for a meek guy who is against guns or can’t get one, but The Punisher needed to live up to his name and be more punishing. (And this is regardless of what the comic is like, which I haven’t read.)

• Little thing, Voice over

The Punisher has a voice over at one point where he starts to list his three philosophies of vengeance. Problem is, they’re spread out too far. If I recall correctly, one is about ten minutes later than another. Either they needed to be all at once or evenly spread out.
