The Number 23

This is another rare case where I’m commenting on a movie I didn’t finish viewing, so I’ll only explain why I stopped after 30 minutes or so.

The significance of “23″ is make-believe and meaningless. And viewers knew it. Take any other number and it can match plenty of historical dates, birthdays, driver’s license numbers, etc., especially when you can add, substact and line up the digits. Example, The Number 34. The attack on Pearl Harbor was December 7, 1941. December is 12, for the last month of the year, + 7 +1 + 9 + 4 + 1 = 34. Oooooh.

Like ghosts or aliens, this movie needed to base the madness on something that many people already believe in or are at least open to, yet is not proven.
