The Devil Wears Prada

I liked it, even though it was predictable and much of the humor was repetitive.

The relationship between Andrea and her boyfriend crumbled after all her long hours, new priorities and changed attitude. Then, she realized this, demonstrated her new feeling by quitting and apologized to her boyfriend. So why did they not end up back together? Not that they needed to, but that the story failed to give a reason. The guy moving to Boston is not a reason because he could’ve changed his plans or she could’ve gone with him.

There’s a famous equation in movies- good guy + good girl = good relationship. If there’s an issue in the left part of the equation- like, the guy has some problem- then the result is altered, not a healthy relationship or none at all. When the issue on the left is resolved, then it means the result returns. This is more of a rule for comedies and light stories, as Prada. So for them to not reunite means a deeper problem in the relationship should’ve been touched on earlier, something where they feel that they’re not right for each other despite the correction in the formula.

(I know, it sounds like I’m being anal…at least I said it’s a little thing!)
