Spider-Man 3
As bad as the first two were good. Pretty much everyone agreed- too many villains, unfocused story, repetitive Mary Jane situations, etc. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, so my suspicion is that Sam Raimi figured this was his last time as director and wanted to use up the good material left from the comics; he should’ve left some for the next sequels (because there definitely will be more).
A couple of new thoughts…
- Character, Structure/Plot
Sandman was hardly a threat. All he wanted was money and he could’ve done that by robbing a bank in the middle of the night. Doing so during the day and then battling Spidey was forced.
- The end
In the finale of the original, Spidey had to save the kids in the gondola and MJ. In the finale of 2, he had to save the city and MJ. Here, he had to save just himself. Not as exciting.
