Once

A good flick, especially considering the micro-budget. Yet that does not make it beyond reproach…

A guy and girl who grow close to each other need to do so for more than the reasons of basic attraction and a cure for loneliness. Those elements are only good in the beginning of a union. So the major, fundamental problem in Once was that the relationship between the guy and girl had no reason for getting serious…there was no indication as to how each one completed the other (even though they didn’t end up together).

The female lead was a terrible choice. I saw in the DVD how she and the guy were real-life friends, but that didn’t make her a good actress. She was as unnatural as Sophia Coppola in The Godfather III.
