Hulk
Believe it or not, I liked the movie, though I’m fully aware it could’ve been better. I appreciated Ang Lee’s comic book style of displaying multiple images at once.
- Structure/Plot
The main problem was the slow beginning. It took about 42 minutes till the Hulk appeared and I remember feeling the life sucked out of the moviegoers in the theater by that point (plus the feeling of kids fidgeting).
The simple solution would’ve been to start in the present, have the gamma ray accident and the Hulk’s first rampage and then slow down and have a flashback to Bruce’s youth as he tries to figure it out. Plus, all that transpired in the flashbacks could’ve been shorter.
The other problem is that they set-up two factors for Bruce to turn into the Hulk. No excuse for that.
I wonder why movies that failed at the box-office don’t re-edit for the DVD release, when possible. Just like King Kong, this could’ve been shortened without requiring new footage or effects or anything.
