This had its cute moments, but could’ve been better. The spring training discussion made me laugh out loud and that’s rare.

• Structure/Plot

Romantic comedies are all about keeping the guy and girl from falling in love or committing to each other till the end. Here, the second act started with the right recipe for such conflict- Drew Barrymore discovered that her seemingly perfect boyfriend was obsessed with the Red Sox. Problem was, she figured the relationship would still progress since she was going to be busy over the summer with work. So what followed was half an hour of smooth sailing just when the obstacles should have started. The real conflict started with Drew’s invitation to Paris- much too late and this seriously hampered the story.
