Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer

Worse than the original…

Character / Premise

How could I have had anything but hatred for The Silver Surfer when, at the beginning, he was directly responsible for the destruction of worlds and billions of people? And hatred is not an emotion filmmakers want towards such a character. The simple thing would have been to start with The Surfer preparing Earth as the Destroyer’s first target…and even then figuring out a way to sabotage the plan.

Structure / Plot

The movie should have opened with a self-contained action sequence that highlighted each superhero’s special talent; as is the action started at the wedding around 25-30 minutes in and that’s too long for such a flick. And the opening sequence should have also introduced the spacecraft that comes into play at the end; it was illogical and silly that Reid built it without any of the others knowing about it and, at the end, with them all being experts at flying it.
