I like the dialogue and wit (for the most part), but, man, are there holes in this story.
- Logic
-Say you’re the Queen Alien in this movie- a giant, tentacled creature that can break out of its human casing in a second. So when you’re all alone with the five rebels in Zeke’s garage, why would you hesitate implanting them?! It would be easy to snatch them all considering you’re really fifteen feet tall with a reach of much longer.
And to make it easier, one of the other rebels, Delilah, is already an alien. Now you have help. The two of you could tag-team the others. But no, you have to wait till the end when you and the others are locked in a gym- and even then you don’t end the charade in one swoop. You wisely wait while they’re trying to pull off the one thing that can destroy your plan and existence. They figure out the Queen must be killed and how she must be killed. They test their theory on one of your subjects. But you just sit there, waiting.
Even more illogical, you have the option of simply leaving harm’s way. Why put yourself in the path of danger to personally implant the few remaining humans once they figure out you must be killed? At this point, 99% of the town is transformed. You could easily walk away and start work on the next town while your brethren finish the job here, the ones who have done all of your work anyway.
-The aliens transform others by implanting those little thingies in their ears. All they have to do is get close enough. But in the beginning, the coach and teacher first terrorize and kill the nurse. Why?
-A few comments are made how the alien life is without fear and other emotions. Once implanted, people develop that robot look. Yet it’s amazing how they all have the ability to act. The plump teacher in the beginning who kills the nurse first acts concerned and scared for the nurse’s life. Delilah acts like her usual snotty self even when she’s an alien underneath. That timid teacher becomes authoritative and seductive towards Zeke. The list goes on. I don’t get it. Don’t say one thing and show another.
-The coach in the opening sequence, after he topples the bench. He’s human at this point, so why does he look around suspiciously- to see if anyone is watching him- after touching the underground water sprinkler? A false lead is okay, that’s a staple in thrillers and horror flicks, but not a fake lead.
