Couples Retreat

I’m not sure how to categorize this one. The premise way okay, I bought the set-up and cared enough about the characters, the plot was a little clumsy but good enough for a light comedy…I guess I’ll just say that all the elements were in place, but that humor was simply absent. I chuckled just twice- when Jon Favreau got off the boat and said the resort “looks like a screensaver”- and the first scene with Vince Vaughn and his therapist.

Oh, and the story got thinner all around as it dragged on. One example- Jon Favreau and his wife were cardboard characters and suddenly at the end rekindled a romance that was never there to begin with.
