More like, cluck.

The kids in the theater liked it, but an adult like me needed more than a few chuckles. Too bad, this was a great premise and the flick just needed consistency.

The melodrama of Sandler’s future life was emotional, but over-the-top and out of balance with the humor till that point. This long sequence needed more laughs, as when Sandler gave Speedo Man the middle finger while he’s dying on the pavement. And one replay of his father’s last moment in the office would’ve been enough.

When Sandler thought he got the promotion, he came home with new bikes for his kids. Shortly after, upon realizing that the promotion did not yet happen, Sandler’s wife explained to the kids that they cannot afford to keep the gifts.

This was a good scene for the reaction on Sandler when he heard his wife say this, but it was built on a flimsy note. The bikes were from Huffy, inexpensive ones sold at large retailers and of average quality. It would’ve been better for him to get top-of-the-line bikes or something truly expensive, especially since he feels the need to keep up with the neighbors.

On a personal note, and as I write elsewhere, I find it sad that profanity and sexuality have become so common in PG movies.
