Battle: Los Angeles
Premise
While Aaron Eckhart was solid as usual and the military aspect played out nicely, the whole thing felt useless. Comparing it to Independence Day, I realized that the problem for me was that the destruction felt too great, that Eckhart’s heroics came much too late.
Sure, in ID, major cities were destroyed, but the point of the movie was disparate groups coming together to fight back and start society anew. In B:LA, the story’s vision rarely looked beyond the narrow scope of this one army unit. That felt almost trivial compared to the alien invasion.
