Armageddon

The fact that it made $200M+ doesn’t mean this movie was so special. It cost about half that and most critics panned it. It took me a while to pinpoint one of the underlying flawz of the movie and it’s that there are too many What if?s.

The movie starts off with, “What if a giant asteroid threatens to smash into earth?” Great start. But then the movie has to ask, “What if a bunch of ragtag oil-drillers have to become astronauts?” Then, “What if the space shuttle could land on the asteroid?” It was just too much to accept.

Yes, some people enjoyed Armageddon for its summery, popcorn entertainment. My contention is that even more people would’ve enjoyed it had the movie watched its logic and premise.
