A Bronx Tale
This movie is a good addition to the mob sub-genre. However, there’s one thing…
- Narration/Voice Over
There’s too much (if even a little is sometimes okay). A prime example is the scene in the bar when the biker gang comes in for a beer. They get rowdy and mess up the counter and bartender. Sonny locks the front door and says, “Now yous can’t leave.” (A classic moment.) The bikers freeze. Their dead faces say it all.
Then the moment is ruined when the kid says in a voice-over, “I’ll never forget the look on their faces…all their energy dropped…they knew at that moment that they picked the wrong bar.” I know! I did see their faces drop- you don’t have to tell me! And it’s so clumsy to have such a long voice-over at that dramatic moment. Leave the scene alone and let the audience enjoy it. This is not a complicated moment that needs interpretation.
